More Info on our Houston Studio and Sale of the Week

So last week we told you about our plans for Houston!  Just in case you missed it....we are setting up a Studio space in our booth.  We will run a total of 20 hour long "Whimsies-To-Go" workshops during Houston Quilt Festival.  Our space is very limited so each is held to 8 participants and will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.  Planning will be key with seating opening 15 minutes before the start of the workshop.

Each day will offer a variety of techniques on tap.  There will be a $10 kit fee for each workshop so that we may supply you with everything you need to complete the project! We are working on publishing the final schedule with all the photos and times but there are still a few details to iron out.  Hopefully by next week we will have that for you.  In the meantime, here are a few of the workshops that will be offered.

Sale of the Week:  $5.50/yd Batiks

We have been making the complete switch to only carrying our line of hand-dyed fabrics.  We have a few yards of batiks left that need to find new homes so that we can have the shelf space.  After this week they will be pulled off the internet so now is your chance to grab a deal!

Drum Roll Please: Are you Ready for Houston??

Are you going to the 40th Anniversary of International Quilt Festival Houston??

I know I've been teasing on Facebook for a couple weeks now about a HUGE announcement in regards to Houston's Festival.  We are finally able to share our exciting news!

Last year showed us that we needed to grow in space so we have a bigger booth for this year's Festival.  We are turning part of our booth into a "Studio".

The best part of this.....some really FABULOUS artists have agreed to join us!  Cheryl Sleboda, Sarah Ann Smith, Maggie Winfield, and Vickie Meredith Lord will be leading workshops on a variety of techniques.  They range from Smocking, Thermofax Screenprinting, Painting, LED artist trading cards, Inktense Pencils, beading and more.  We, Janelle Girod and Kristin Rodriguez, will also be running workshops on Silk Cocoons/Carrier Rods, a variety of mixed-media techniques just to name a few.

We will be posting a schedule on our website over the next few weeks and announcing the workshops in the newsletter.  We hope that many of you will join us in the studio for a great celebration of quilting and creativity!  There will even be special prizes given away in each class!!  Space will be limited for these events so planning will be key!

"Join us in Fiber on a Whim's Studio where you can renew your energy level by taking a break from the show floor to create a piece of art.  Join a few of Fiber on a Whim's favorite artists as they lead you in a hands on Whimsies-To-Go workshop.  In just one hour you will learn a new technique while creating your own individual artwork!"
